Vanstone’s half-round light-weight channels are glass-fibre reinforced cement drainage channels. You can use it anywhere but it is the perfect solution for difficult sites. An example is underground mines that need drainage of all levels and corridors.
Vanstone’s half-round light-weight channels weigh only about third of conventional reinforced concrete channels of the same shape and size. Because of its lightness, the channels are easy to transport down the shaft and out onto the levels. Installation is fast and simple as one man can easily lift and place it.
Vanstone’s half-round channels are light-weight, yet sufficiently robust to withstand handling and installation forces. The glass-fibre reinforced concrete is less brittle than conventional concrete and less likely to break because it is so light. Yet it is rigid enough to keep its shape, even when handled roughly.
Other conventional half-round channels are reinforced with steel. The concrete cover over the rebar is only about 15mm. This is insufficient to prevent corrosion of the steel. Any chips and small cracks that happened during installation will speed up the corrosion. Vanstone’s half-round light-weight channels are reinforced with alkali-resisting woven glass-textile. It is not subject to any form of corrosion.
Being cement based, Vanstone’s half-round channels adhere to the cement slurry used for installation. It will not come loose like HDPE channels.
Vanstone’s channels contain no asbestos.
