Standard refuse bags fit into the bins for easy removal and good hygiene.
The most popular finish is exposed aggregate, which is completely maintenance free. Apart from this it is difficult to stick anything to it like posters or advertisements. Smooth concrete finish is also available. Painting is not necessary but it may be done if so required.

Precast concrete refuse bins have thin walls. Concrete is brittle and has very little tensile strength. It therefore needs reinforcing to overcome any tensile forces that may exist in the concrete. Unfortunately, any reinforcing steel cast into the thin walls will be close to the surface on both sides. The cover of concrete over reinforcing steel is not sufficient and any rainwater will penetrate deep enough to cause the steel to start the proses of corrosion. The corrosion or rust forms layers that effectively expands the diameter of the steel. The concrete around it gives way and a crack is formed. More water can now enter through the crack and corrosion speeds up. The next step is wider cracks and concrete spalling.
Vanstone’s bins are reinforced with alkali resisting glass reinforcement. The great advantage of this over steel reinforcement is that it does not corrode. NEVER BUY AN OUTDOOR PRECAST CONCRETE REFUSE BIN THAT IS STEEL REINFORCED.
