Description
It is difficult to cast Cover Slabs incorporating gratings on site. It requires formwork, reinforcing steel and casting of concrete. The formwork has to be removed through the opening. Concrete quantities are usually small and the site far removed from ready-mix facilities. Site casting is time consuming and may be of poor quality and expensive.
Cover Slabs for surface inlet boxes that carry traffic are critical. Heavy vehicle wheel loads are enormous and have to be provided for. It is best that such Cover Slabs are designed by a competent structural engineer. A weak slab may collapse and cause a disaster. On the other hand an over-designed slabs is wasting the Client’s money.
Vanstone’s structural concrete section specializes in transportable roof slabs, trench covers, storm water structures and more. Vanstone has over the years manufactured a multitude of special Cover and Roof Slabs of every shape, size and load bearing capacity.
For a draft design and quote, the following information is required:
– Drawings if possible,
– All dimensions,
– Required equipment like gratings, manhole covers, air vents, anchor bolts, service entrances etc.,
– Expected loading (worst case) on cover,
– Quantity required and where delivered.
Vanstone’s engineer will do a draft design and a quote. If you are happy with the quote, Vanstone will manufacture and deliver it for you.
