Description
Vanstone’s Robust Grid Cover is a high specification reinforced concrete grid for the standard SANRAL U-Channel. It is suitable for heavy vehicles.
Concrete characteristic strength is 40MPa (28d ave cube). It has a protective steel lining all around the edges that are monolithically welded to the reinforcing steel. Special anti-shear reinforcing is employed, All steel including reinforcing is hot dipped galvanised.
The primary function of a Grid Cover is to let water into the channel below. It may also be used as a removable inspection cover but only in positions of low traffic loading.
Vanstone’s Robust Grids have excellent load bearing capacity suitable for continuous heavy vehicle wheel loads.
It comes in two strength classes in compliance with SANS 50124, namely C250 (250kN) and D400 (400kN).
Class C250 is suitable for use along the edges of the roadway and in industrial yards where heavy vehicles drive straight over. A smaller amount of manoeuvring with lateral tyre movement and wheel scuffing is allowable.
Class D400 is suitable for the carriageway of roads and industrial yards where heavy vehicles drive over and manoeuvre. Lateral tyre movement and wheel scuffing takes place.
PLEASE NOTE: ROBUST GRID COVERS MUST BE PROPERLY BEDDED AND FIXED IN POSITION TO PREVENT IT FROM MOVING UNDER TRAFFIC LOADS. Consult Vanstone about this.
Size: 370mm wide x 135mm thick x 600mm (module) long. Need two per 1.2m U-Channel.
